    New BBQ Trailer officially launched

Federal Member for Gilmore Fiona Phillips officially launched the Minnamurra Lions Club’s new purpose built barbecue trailer at the Kiama Seaside markets last Sunday.

Designed by club members and constructed by Queensland company Anarchy Custom Trailers, the cost of the $20,000 trailer was largely covered by grants from the Commonwealth Government, Australian Lion's Foundation and BlueScope/WIN.

It will be at the forefront of the club’s fundraising activities, as well as being made available to other local community groups to help them raise much-needed funds.

According to the club’s BBQ Committee chairman, Denis Beynon, the trailer boasts two retractable, six burner hot plates, built-in cold drinks storage bins, water pump, sink and all-purpose shelving as well as the prominent logos of the sponsors and the Minnamurra Lions Club.

When launching the distinctive blue trailer, Fiona Phillips said she was pleased that Commonwealth funding had been available to help with construction costs.

“Clubs like Minnamurra Lions are the backbone of the community whose members give generously of their time, especially in tough times like the current bushfire disaster,” she said.

  • Biggest Donation Ever!

The Minnamurra Lions Club has donated $10,000 towards the recovery of South Coast communities ravaged by bushfires.

President Ken Horspool said the money represented the largest single donation in the club’s 20-year history.

“The money will be dispersed directly to those most in need through the Lions District Disaster Fund,” he said.

Lions Distict 201 stretches from Kiama to the Victorian border and west to Canberra and covers almost all the areas severely impacted by the fires.

    Its Arrived!!!!

Our new BBQ trailer was commissioned at our Christmas dinner meeting. It was met with many appreciative comments. It will soon be seen out and about providing sausage sandwiches and bacon and egg rolls.

Thanks to our BBQ committee for all their efforts in getting the trailer from concept to reality. It has been a bumpy journey but the result is magnificent.
